What Makes Treu Tutoring Unique

After more than a decade of experience as a classroom teacher, I have developed methods and explanations that resonate with individual students. I believe in taking an engaging, differentiated approach to teaching that helps students connect with the math topics they need to master. I use pictures, objects, stories, songs and anything else that I can to help students remember foundational material and make connections to new concepts. I am just as concerned with providing students the skills to solve problems as I am with teaching the immediate content.

As a licensed teacher, I understand the value of working closely with parents and classroom teachers to determine what gaps exist in a student’s knowledge so I know how best to help. Communicating in this way allows me to prepare tutoring sessions that get students prepared for upcoming classroom material while setting a foundation and building on previous understanding.

In the past, I have worked with a textbook company to research effective teaching strategies. As part of the research, a group of teachers around the country and I published findings regarding methods of assessment as well as dialoging in a math classroom. I enjoy using these methods when tutoring students to help build problem solving skills. This experience allows me to provide a depth of tutoring that no other service can.
